Tottenham Hotspur have handed Manchester City their worst defeat in seven years in a 4-0 win at the Etihad Stadium ending City’s unbeaten home run.
In a match that was supposed to host the celebration ceremony for the latest Ballon D’or winner, Rodri, Pep Guadiola’s side have now suffered their fifth consecutive defeat as Hotspur turned the ceremony a sour party.
Tottenham started the showdown with an opening goal 13 minutes into the game by James Maddison and just 7 minutes after, another Maddison goal happened to give Tottenham a double lead before the end of first half.
Manchester City’s effort to pull back a goal met a dead end as Pedro Borro registered his name on the scoresheet for Tottenham in the 52nd minute to make the scoreline 3-0.
Frustrated Guardiola made tactical changes to patch up the leaking roof at the Etihad Stadium but Brennan Johnson showed the Manchester guys that they came with sophisticated Arsenals as he closed the goal-scoring spree with his right foot after a wonderful assist from Chelsea former striker, Timo Werner to end the match at 4-0.
The defeat was City’s third in succession in the Premier League, and leaders Liverpool will now have the chance to move eight points clear on Sunday.
Pep Guadiola had just sign a new contract with Manchester and it’s a troubling fixture ahead as City’s next Premier League match will be at Anfield and it’s expected to be a feast of goals and history is expected to happen!
