In a significant step towards advancing digital education in Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved N995 million for the procurement of over 1,000 laptops for senior secondary schools.
Truth Live News gathered that third initiative, announced after the 10th Executive Council meeting presided over by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, aims to enhance digital learning and better prepare students for critical examinations like WAEC, NECO, and JAMB.
Dr. Danlami Hayyo, Mandate Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, highlighted the importance of this shift, stating, “FCT schools will now transform to digital education systems, moving from normal classroom teaching to media education systems of learning.”
This approach is a new laudable commitment to equip students with 21st-century skills, positioning the FCT as a leader in educational innovation.
In addition to this digital push, the council also approved measures to support agriculture, including the procurement of 550 metric tonnes of fertilisers, 310 knapsack sprayers, and 3,500 litres of liquid fertilisers for dry season farming. Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Lawan Geidam, emphasized the role of these inputs in boosting productivity and ensuring food security within the territory.
With Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud and other key officials present, the meeting reaffirmed the FCTA’s commitment to fostering development across sectors. These measures not only highlight the administration’s dedication to education and agriculture but also signal a broader push towards sustainable growth in the FCT and beyond.
