Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has expressed her deep condolences to the families affected by a devastating fire at an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, which claimed the lives of 17 Almajiris.
The Zamfara State Police confirmed that 17 children, known locally as Almajiris, perished in the fire, while another 17 were injured in the tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday night.
In a statement released on Thursday, Mrs. Tinubu offered her sympathies to Governor Dauda Lawal and the broader community of Zamfara State. “I pray Allah to comfort and give the families and loved ones of the departed the fortitude to bear this painful loss,” she stated.
The First Lady also underscored the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in public facilities across Nigeria, saying, “This, once again, brings to mind the need for precautionary safety measures in all our public facilities. I pray that such will not recur, not only in Zamfara, but any other part of Nigeria.”
She concluded her message with a prayer for the deceased, “May Allah grant the souls of the departed Aljanah Fridaus.”
