Contract Extension: Super Eagles Coach Chelle Demands $130,000 Monthly, ,No Interference in Team Selection

Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has reportedly submitted a comprehensive 19-point list of conditions to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as negotiations intensify over a potential contract extension.

Sources familiar with the discussions say the detailed proposal outlines structural, financial, and operational demands aimed at strengthening the national team’s competitiveness while guaranteeing professional autonomy for the technical crew.

Key Demands: Security, Structure and Professional Autonomy

Among the prominent requests is the provision of a private SUV with a chauffeur and security detail, alongside a house located in a well-secured environment with uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply. Chelle is also demanding a fully furnished office equipped with a projector for tactical analysis and reliable internet services.

In addition, the coach has asked for international flight tickets for his immediate family — business class for himself and his wife, and economy class for his two children.

Technical Control and Strategic Authority

Central to Chelle’s proposal is a firm clause on non-interference in team selection and player call-ups. The coach insists on full autonomy in choosing his squad and determining friendly matches based on strategic needs against specific opponents.

He also seeks authority to design camping programs and initiate youth development schemes that will ensure long-term sustainability for Nigerian football.

To broaden scouting efforts, Chelle wants official backing to travel abroad to monitor Nigerian players in foreign leagues, as well as visit domestic league matches to identify talents for integration into the senior national team and age-grade sides — U23, U20, and U17.

Staff Welfare and Financial Terms

On remuneration, Chelle has proposed a monthly salary of $130,000 — a package that reportedly covers his entire technical staff and personal assistant. He also insists that salaries must be paid on or before the 30th of every month.

Other financial conditions include bonuses and allowances structured in line with federation standards, with a special request that his personal assistant be included in the bonus framework. He further demands that the NFF issue formal working contracts for all his backroom staff.

Administrative Reforms

The coach has also proposed monthly coordination meetings involving all national team coaches to ensure alignment, synergy, and a unified football philosophy across age-grade teams.

Negotiations Ongoing

While the NFF has yet to officially respond to the reported conditions, insiders suggest discussions are ongoing, with both parties seeking common ground.
