Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign highly-rated England international Morgan Rogers for a staggering £117 million.
The 23-year-old versatile attacker, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s brightest talents, is set to put pen to paper on a six-year contract with the option of a further 12 months. A medical is scheduled for Monday, paving the way for the move to be finalised swiftly.
Rogers, who joined Villa from Middlesbrough in early 2024 for a modest initial fee, has exploded into stardom at Villa Park. Across 125 appearances, he has notched 31 goals and 29 assists, including a standout 2025-26 campaign that saw him contribute 14 goals and 12 assists as Unai Emery’s side secured Europa League glory and Champions League qualification.
While Arsenal were known to hold strong interest in the player, Rogers reportedly favoured Chelsea and their ambitious project under new manager Xabi Alonso. The former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder, who took the Stamford Bridge reins earlier this summer, is understood to have been instrumental in convincing the forward to make the switch across the capital.
