Liverpool Sets British Record with £116.5m Wirtz Signing
Liverpool has agreed to pay a British-record transfer fee of £116.5m to sign Bayer Leverkusen playmaker, Florian Wirtz.
According to Sky Sports, the total package consists of a £100m initial payment plus £16.5m in potential add-ons.
Wirtz will now sort out personal terms with the Premier League champions, but will wait until next week to undergo his medical, as he is currently on holiday.
The 22-year-old German midfielder snubbed interest from Liverpool’s rivals Manchester City, as his heart was set on playing for Arne Slot’s team.
Wirtz has spent his entire senior career at Leverkusen, scoring 10 goals and registering 12 assists in 25 starts last season.
