Manchester United Confirm Michael Carrick as Head coach

Manchester United on Friday, May 22, officially announced the appointment of former midfielder Michael Carrick as the club’s new permanent manager following his impressive interim spell at Old Trafford.

Carrick signed a contract until 2028 after guiding the Red Devils back into the UEFA Champions League places and reviving their season after replacing Ruben Amorim in January.

The 44-year-old won 11 of his 16 matches in charge, including crucial victories against Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, helping United climb from seventh to third in the Premier League table.

Manchester United’s hierarchy reportedly rewarded Carrick for restoring stability, improving dressing-room morale and reconnecting the squad with the club’s attacking identity.

Speaking after the announcement, Carrick described the appointment as one of the proudest moments of his career and vowed to return the club to the top of European football.

Carrick spent 12 years as a player at Manchester United, winning five Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup before moving into coaching.

His appointment has already received strong backing from supporters and several senior players, with many believing the former England midfielder can lead a new era of success at Old Trafford.
