FIFA has appointed Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić to officiate the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The world football governing body announced the appointment on Friday, July 17, 2026, through its official X account.
Vinčić will be assisted by fellow Slovenians Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič as first and second assistant referees, respectively.
Jordan’s Adham Makhadmeh has been named the fourth official, while Mohammad Alkalaf will serve as the reserve assistant referee.
The World Cup final will be played on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the 80,663-capacity New York New Jersey Stadium in the United States, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. local time (EDT).
Spain secured their place in the final after defeating France in the semi-finals, while defending champions Argentina advanced with knockout victories over Egypt, Switzerland and England.
The showdown will be the 104th and final match of the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup, with the winners set to be crowned world champions.
Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, will be aiming to successfully defend the title they won at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, while Spain are chasing their second World Cup trophy after lifting their maiden title in South Africa in 2010.
