Four Rivers State police officers are currently in a hot soup for allegedly kidnapping a staff of a hotel in Port Harcourt.
Truth Live News reports that the officers also demanded for ransom to free their captor.
The hotel worker, simply identified as Darlington, was reportedly kidnapped on his way to work last Friday at about 8pm when the police operatives stopped him near Choba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
Reports had it that the officers ransacked the man’s phone and body but found nothing incriminating on him.
However, after identifying where the man was working, the police reportedly kidnapped him and threatened to kill him, as they had done in the past to other victims who refused to comply with them.
The operatives had threatened to toss his body into the Choba River after killing him and labelling him a kidnapper while pressing for a N1 million ransom.
Reports indicated that the cops put the man inside a truck and patrolled with him till they finally moved him to a bush near Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, confirmed the officers’ arrest at a Port Harcourt event, stating that they were in custody.
“I heard about that incident on social media, and despite that, I went to town with my officers to work on it.
“I’m confirming to you that officers who had contact with that victim have been arrested.
“I’m waiting for complaints from the victim to know what and what to really look out for.
“The officers are there. We are not hiding anything and when the complaints come we will give you further details on what we have done about it”, Disu said.
