Business leaders and investors from more than 50 countries are expected to converge on Abuja in November as Nigeria seeks to attract over $100bn in investment opportunities and commitments through the International Investors Summit Nigeria 2026.
The two-day summit, organised by the Business Summit Group, is scheduled to hold on November 10 and 11 at the Grand Ballroom of the Abuja Continental Hotel.
President of the Business Summit Group, Dato’ Uzzaman, disclosed the investment target on Tuesday during a press conference in Abuja.
Uzzaman said the summit was designed to move beyond discussions about Nigeria’s investment potential by creating direct platforms for international investors to engage Nigerian businesses, state governments and government investment agencies with investment-ready projects.
He said the organisers were targeting more than $100bn in investment opportunities and commitments across key sectors of the Nigerian and African economies.
“These include oil and gas; green and renewable energy; technology; artificial intelligence and fintech; healthcare; agriculture and agro-processing; mining; infrastructure; human resources development and education; and other strategic sectors.
“We are not bringing investors to Nigeria merely for speeches and ceremonies. We want investors to meet real businesses, real project owners and government representatives with investment-ready opportunities.
“Our focus is on creating practical connections that can lead to transactions, partnerships, financing, technology transfer, expansion and job creation,” he said.
Uzzaman urged Nigerian companies, particularly medium and large-scale businesses, as well as state governments, to use the summit to showcase projects capable of attracting immediate and long-term foreign capital.
He said investors were more interested in businesses with proven track records and clear expansion opportunities than projects that existed only on paper.
“Investors like projects that have track records for expansion and new production lines,” he said.
He added that projects capable of immediate implementation would receive priority as the organisers seek to match Nigerian investment opportunities with international capital.
The summit comes as Nigeria continues efforts to attract foreign investment to support economic expansion, infrastructure development, industrialisation and job creation.
The organisers said the event would provide Nigerian businesses and sub-national governments with access to investors from major economies and emerging investment markets across the world.
Uzzaman and Vice President of the Business Summit Group in Nigeria, Innocent Obande, said the summit would also build on investment leads generated from the previous edition held in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2025.
They disclosed that 25 Nigerian companies and state governments participated in the Bangkok summit, after which participants requested that the next edition be hosted in Nigeria.
According to the organisers, Plateau State has secured investment commitments worth more than $1bn within the past six months following its participation in the Bangkok summit.
They said Uzzaman’s role in facilitating investment opportunities for the state contributed to his subsequent appointment as Special Adviser on Investment to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
The organisers said the development demonstrated the potential of international investment summits to move Nigerian projects from local presentations to direct engagement with foreign investors.
They urged other state governments to identify projects with clear commercial prospects and present them to potential investors at the Abuja summit.
Uzzaman said investors expected at the November event would come from the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia and Turkey.
He added that investors from Middle Eastern and Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and Australia, were also expected.
The organisers further disclosed that Liberian President Joseph Boakai had expressed interest in attending the summit, while President of Liberland, Vit Jedlička, had confirmed his attendance with his delegation.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang was also described by the organisers as a strong supporter of the summit.
Truth Live News gathered that the summit is expected to provide a platform for Nigerian businesses and state governments to directly pitch investment-ready projects to international investors and explore opportunities for financing, partnerships, technology transfer and expansion.
