The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service has postponed the release of shortlisted candidates for its ongoing recruitment exercise, which was initially scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The agency said the postponement was necessary to ensure that the recruitment process was thorough, transparent and accurate.
NAQS announced the development in a public notice signed by its Director of Human Resources, ACG Issaka Ahmed, and published on its official X account on Friday, August 14, 2026.
“In order to ensure a thorough, transparent and accurate process, we are unable to release the list of shortlisted candidates as scheduled,” the notice stated.
The agency apologised to applicants for the delay and urged them to remain patient while a new date for the release of the shortlist is determined.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience or uncertainty this delay may have caused and appreciate the patience, understanding and continued interest of all applicants.
“All applicants and the general public are hereby notified that a new date will be communicated in due course through our official communication channels,” it added.
NAQS also advised applicants to rely only on information published through its official communication channels to avoid falling victim to false information or recruitment scams.
The recruitment exercise opened on July 28, 2026, and closed on August 10, 2026.
According to statistics released by NAQS on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the exercise recorded 606,928 attempted applications, of which 407,659 were successfully submitted.
The agency said 199,269 applications remained incomplete at the close of the application period.
The Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II cadre, which requires an HND or bachelor’s degree, recorded the highest number of applications at 290,076.
This was followed by the Quarantine Assistant II cadre with 117,177 applications.
Other categories recorded 79,685 applications for the NCE cadre, 70,170 for the OND cadre and 13,183 for the Superintendent cadre, which requires a master’s degree.
The recruitment exercise covers the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Assistant cadres.
NAQS had initially announced plans to conduct a computer based test and interviews on August 15, 2026, following the release of the shortlist.
However, with the postponement of the shortlist, applicants will now have to await a new schedule for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
