The Media Team to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo in the forthcoming Edo governorship election has asked Dr Osikhena Abu from Uzairue to get his records straight before coming to the public domain to publish falsehoods and malign a man of astute reputation like Asue Ighodalo.

The team is responding to a publication with caption, “LIKE PLANWELL, LIKE MMM: ASUE COME AND CLEAR YOUR NAME”, purportedly authored by one Dr Osikhena Abu from Uzairue currently being in circulation.

The team said Asue Ighodalo who is from a reputable background and whose mother was the first female Permanent Secretary in the federal civil service, cannot stoop so low to that level, therefore, they should get their records correctly.

According to the Media Team “Ideally, the media team of Dr Asue Ighodalo would not have responded to this social media cretin who wrote the publication that is intended to malign the integrity of Dr Asue, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, however, a lie told repeatedly without setting the record straight takes the likelihood of truth in the minds of the gullible.

“For avoidance of doubt, Dr Asue Ighodalo was never a director, as claimed by the fetish and profane publication. If the said author is actually a doctor as claimed, he would have easily gone to the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, to do his diligent research as to know who were the directors of the now deregistered PLANWELL WATERSHED LTD.

“The company was registered in 1992 with 7 Wire Lane, Benin City, Edo State as the address.

“The directors were Godday Akhaine, Vero Akhaine and Emuata Akhaine. None of these persons are directly or remotely linked to Dr Asue Ighodalo.

“We are aware that these spurious and insidious propaganda against Dr Asue are being sponsored by the opposition that has nothing tangible to campaign with.

“The agents of destabilization are known for paying social media influencers to spread disinformation.

“The opposition is expected to be focused on issues, not blackmail, peddling of falsehood and character assassination.

“While it is legal to hire social media influencers during election to set agenda and influence perceptions of voters, it is a breach of the country’s laws to deliberately spread disinformation.

“We enjoin the public to discard this deeply fake news and pay no attention to subsequent ones.

“Dr Asue is ready for issue-based campaigns as soon as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, lifts the ban on campaigns next month”.
