West Ham United manager David Moyes is said to have called off Arnaut Danjuma’s signing to the club.
Danjuma piqued the Hammers’ interest after scoring 16 goals and providing four assists in 34 appearances for LaLiga club Villarreal last season.
According to Football Insider, the West Ham leadership, led by majority shareholder David Sullivan, has held extensive negotiations with Villarreal and has been pushing for Danjuma to join them this summer.
Negotiations are said to be underway, but Moyes has advised the Hammers to postpone their pursuit of the attacker because he is only seen as a third or fourth choice on the Scotsman’s list of priorities.
Moyes is looking to add a new centre-forward to compete with Michail Antonio, who is 32 years old, and Chelsea’s Armando Broja is thought to be his top target.
Danjuma, who has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, only joined Villarreal last summer from Bournemouth and he is now valued at around €45m (£38.8m).
