Some undisclosed number of candidates traveling to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Saturday died in a fatal road accident along Oyo-Ogbomoso highway in Oyo State.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident had possibly been caused by brake failure.
Although the the exact number of casualties and identities of the victims are yet to be divulged, they were reportedly en route to their exam centers before the accident occured.
As news of the incident filtered through the social media, several Nigerians expressed their condolences while condemning the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for allotting distant centres and fixing exams as early as 6am thus forcing candidates to risk their lives.
