The embattled Governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara, has said that he did not beg to be made governor and will not beg to remain on the seat.

He emphasized that he didn’t strive for the governorship and viewed his ascension as a stroke of providence.

Recall that during an Interdenominational Church Service marking Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary at St Paul’s Cathedral Church, Diobu, Port Harcourt, he reiterated his stance that he didn’t not emerge by his own efforts but the will of God and the support of Wike.

Overnight, several elders of the Pdp had tried to intervene and get to the root of the matter.

Facing potential impeachment by the state House of Assembly, Governor Fubara addressed his supporters at the Assembly Complex on Monday. He challenged his accusers to reveal his alleged offenses justifying impeachment.

In a surprising turn of events within the last 24 hours, Governor Sim Fubara has dismissed the Chief Justice of the state, suspended all 23 Local Government Chairmen, and extended congratulations to the ousted House leader, who was sworn in by only eight out of 33 state lawmakers.

Evidently, Governor Fubara’s conflict appears to revolve around his predecessor, Wike, who handpicked him as the successor. Sim was never among the top 10 expected for this highly sought position, making recent developments even more astonishing.

In a ‘he that is down needs fear no fall’ scenario, Sim fights with the recklessness of a person with nothing to lose.
