Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has revealed that he would have loved to sign Gareth Bale but that his transfer value was too exorbitant.
This was remarked by the Spaniard in response to the announcement of Bale’s retirement from active football.
Guardiola stated during a post-match press conference ahead of Manchester City’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Southampton on Wednesday.
He said, “Too expensive. [Ever try to sign him] What a player.
“Fantastic career, won a lot of things. I think he represents Wales with more than 100 caps, and now he can become a fantastic golf player.
“[I invited him to play golf]. He was busy maybe; now he has time. I will invite him again.”
As previously reported by Truth Live News, Bale, a former Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur player as well as a Real Madrid great, announced his retirement from football on Monday.
Bale’s most recent MLS club was Los Angeles FC. And the 33-year-old has won five UEFA Champions League titles, a feat no other British player has accomplished.
