Kogi State’s recently sworn-in Governor, Usman Ododo, has issued a noteworthy statement, urging residents to prioritize the former Governor Yahaya Bello’s directives over his own.
Truth Live News gathered that the Governor said “Obey the former Governor’s Office more than mine. If I give you an order, and the former governor, Yahaya Bello, gives you an order, please ignore my order and obey the former governor’s order.
If I say we should go this way, and the former governor says we should go the other way, you people should obey the former governor and ignore mine.”
This is against the backdrop of a series of clashes between governors and their predecessors who installed them such as Wike vs. Sim, Ibori/Okowa, and Kwankwaso/Ganduje. Governor Ododo’s stance has triggered diverse opinions among netizens.
Netizens have had sharp opinions
Some say this is the height of disdain for the office of the governor while others say the governor is just trying to make clear his continued loyalty now that he is governor.
While some criticize it as a perceived disrespect for the governor’s office, others interpret it as a strategic move to underscore his unwavering loyalty to Bello now that he holds the gubernatorial position.
