Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State, has extended warm congratulations to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, on the return of two royal artefacts from the United States.
In a statement released by his media team, Team Asue Media Organisation (TAMO) and made available to Truth Live News on Tuesday in Benin City, Ighodalo expressed deep joy and satisfaction in a letter personally signed and addressed to the Oba. He hailed the return of the artefacts as a pivotal moment for the Great Benin Kingdom and the rightful restoration of its cultural heritage.
“This momentous event signifies the restoration of yet another crucial piece of our cherished cultural heritage,” Ighodalo wrote. “It represents a significant milestone in the tireless efforts to reclaim our history and honor the legacy of our ancestors, whose unparalleled craftsmanship continues to inspire awe across the globe.”
Ighodalo expressed his hope that the successful repatriations would pave the way for the return of all looted artefacts to their rightful owner and custodian, the Oba of Benin. He also prayed for a continued reign marked by profound and joyous milestones for His Royal Majesty.
