The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu has secured a $50 million loan that will enable the next administration to construct 500 kilometres road in the State.

The Governor made this known to reporters yesterday, during an interaction at the governor’s lodge in Aba.

According to Ikpeazu, his administration was steadfast in securing the loan as a result of his devotion and determination to leave Abia in better shape than when he arrived.

He further claimed that the funding had given Abia the opportunity to record significant road construction in order to advance the state’s infrastructure development and that his government had negotiated and polished the interest rate of the facility to be at 0.006 percent, with a 20-year payback period and a 10-year moratorium.

Ikpeazu stated that among the projects he continued to be grateful to God for, were the handover of the rebuilt Faulks Road in Aba and the renovated three blocks in A-line of Ariaria International Market by his government. He claimed that he used a comprehensive strategy to build the state, and that his administration had set a strong foundation for the succeeding administrations.

According to him, the Enyimba Economic City project conceptualised by his administration when completed would provide over 600, 000 jobs to the teeming youths, over a 10-year period.

He added that the challenges of leadership were not in conceptualising ideas but in connecting and channelling them into an agenda to create a better life for people of the state. Mr Ikpeazu said that he was pleased with his stewardship, relationship style and disposition to issues, adding that these had facilitated the maintenance of peace and order in Abia.
