53 killed as Israeli Strike Hits Girls’ School in Southern Iran

At least 53 people have been killed and 63 others injured after an Israeli air strike hit an elementary girls’ school in southern Iran, according to Iranian state media.

Truthlive news media gathered that the strike hit the school in Minab, in Hormozgan province, on Saturday. Rescue teams were still clearing debris hours after the attack, officials said.

The incident comes amid a wider wave of military action across Iran involving Israel and the United States, which has sharply escalated tensions in the region.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, shared images of the aftermath on social media platform X, expressing grief over the destruction of the school and the deaths of what he described as “innocent children”.

“These crimes against the Iranian people will not go unanswered,” he said.

Meanwhile, Russia has strongly condemned the air strikes carried out by the US and Israel, describing them as a “deliberate, premeditated and unprovoked act of armed aggression” against a sovereign state.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Moscow accused Washington and Tel Aviv of violating fundamental principles of international law and warned that the attacks risk plunging the region into a wider humanitarian and economic crisis.

Russia also criticised the timing of the strikes, saying they were carried out while diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions around Iran were ongoing.

Moscow warned that attacks on nuclear facilities operating under international safeguards could undermine the global nuclear non-proliferation regime, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Russia called for an immediate return to diplomacy, saying it remained ready to support political solutions based on international law and mutual respect.
