The United Arab Emirates has reported successfully intercepting two ballistic missiles and three drones launched from Iran, amid escalating regional tensions.
In a statement posted on X, the UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defence systems neutralised the incoming threats. The attack resulted in three people sustaining moderate injuries.
The ministry provided a stark overview of the ongoing aerial campaign:
“Since the beginning of the blatant Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates, the air defences have engaged a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 UAVs.”
It added that the country’s defence systems “successfully responded to the latest attack by intercepting the incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.”
The latest incident comes as broader conflicts involving Iran continue to intensify, including reported exchanges in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has yet to issue an official response to the UAE’s claims.
This development underscores the heightened state of alert across the Gulf region.
