Ukraine War Hardest to Resolve, JD Vance Says

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has described the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia as the most difficult conflict to resolve, while criticising European leaders for what he called a lack of urgency.

Speaking during a visit to Hungary, Vance said efforts to broker peace had made progress but remained complex, noting that both sides had begun to move closer in their positions.

He stressed that negotiations were now focused on relatively small territorial differences, questioning whether continued fighting was worth the heavy human and economic cost.

Vance also praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for encouraging a broader understanding of both Ukrainian and Russian perspectives in efforts to end the war.

Despite expressing optimism, Vance emphasised that reaching a final agreement would require cooperation from both sides, saying, “it takes two to tango.”
