Chief Eyo Edet of the Peoples Democratic Party has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Akwa Ibom State.

According to reports, Edet, also known as Eyo Aswang, was abducted on Monday at his filling station, Eyotech Nigeria Limited, in the state’s Oron Local Government area.

According to a source who spoke to the Punch correspondent on Tuesday, Edet, who was the PDP’s Divine Campaign Organization’s deputy coordinator in Oron during the most recent election, was assaulted by his kidnappers and driven away in a Sienna sedan.

The source went on to say that his kidnappers drove their victims to a speed boat that was waiting for them and allegedly set fire to the Sienna car they arrived in.

At the time this article was being written, the kidnappers had not yet gotten in touch with the family to request a ransom.

Odiko Macdon, the state’s police public relations officer, who confirmed the occurrence, claimed that CP Olatoye Durosinmi, the commissioner of police, had visited the area and requested an investigation.

He said “We received the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi visited the scene of the incident and went to the waterfront even the Sienna used to perpetuate the act has been recovered.

Investigations have commenced already and I’m sure the perpetrators will be brought to book in no distant time.”
