Activist politician Omoyele Sowore has declared that President Bola Tinubu is no different from former President Goodluck Jonathan, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, insisting all belong to the same political class afraid of genuine change.
Sowore made the statement on Friday while addressing journalists outside the Abuja Federal High Court after Justice Mohammed Garba Umar dismissed his no-case submission in a cyberbullying charge filed by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The DSS had accused Sowore of cyberbullying President Tinubu by allegedly calling him a “criminal” on his Twitter (X) handle. The court upheld the charges and ordered him to open his defence.
Speaking to reporters, Sowore said the political elite fear Nigerians who offer a different vision:
“Jonathan is not different from Tinubu, Tinubu is not different from Atiku, Atiku is not different from Obi or Kwankwaso. We are the ones who are different and that is the idea that they are afraid of in all these struggles that you are seeing.”
He added that he would still be in court regardless of which of them was in power, because they cannot tolerate progressive ideas:
“If anyone one of them was in power I would still be here because they can’t tolerate progressives ideas that would liberate the country, the best choice is standing in front of you because I can’t be recommending people who failed you while calling them a better choice.”
Sowore maintained that his ongoing legal battles are part of a deliberate strategy by the political class to distract Nigerians from real solutions and keep him tied down in court. He described the situation as one where politicians are becoming more desperate, forming and dissolving coalitions while new parties emerge.
The fiery activist reiterated his commitment to the struggle, saying there is “a country to be liberated.”
