The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has affirmed his confidence in Peter Obi’s commitment to serve only one four-year term as president.
During an appearance on Channels Television on Monday evening, Kwankwaso, positioned as Obi’s running mate on the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket, responded affirmatively when asked if he agreed with Obi’s one-term declaration.
“I personally believe him,” Kwankwaso stated. “Based on what I now know about him, I don’t think he will renege. We have put the agreement on paper, one with the party and one between the two of us.”
The arrangement shows a strategic North-South power rotation understanding: Obi, from the South-East, would occupy the presidency for a single term, after which power is expected to return to the North. Kwankwaso emphasized that the deal respects Nigeria’s informal zoning conventions while leveraging their shared focus on education, poverty alleviation, and national development.
