Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has urged residents to embrace justice and unity while renewing their commitment to a harmonious society as Muslims across the state and beyond commence the holy month of Ramadan fasting.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo, the governor extended warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for witnessing another sacred period, describing justice as the bedrock of safety and prosperity.
“Ramadan offers a message of self-discipline and spiritual renewal. It is a season that reminds us of the values of patience and the essence of cheerful giving,” Adeleke said.
He encouraged the faithful to observe the fast in line with Islamic teachings, highlighting the month’s emphasis on personal discipline, communion, and tolerance.
“For 29 or 30 days, we will have a remarkable opportunity to strengthen our faith and dedicate ourselves to impacting lives, such as feeding the poor and helping others in need,” the governor stated.
Adeleke specifically called on residents to leverage the season to promote unity and harmony, particularly through shared moments like breaking the fast together.
He also appealed to political actors both within and outside the state to avoid bitterness and prioritize actions that benefit the people.
Reflecting on the past year, the governor acknowledged the challenges faced by Osun residents, including what he described as politically motivated hardships such as the seizure of local government funds.
“In the last one year, things have not been easy as those who believed they have power chose to punish Osun people for no reason other than politics,” he said.
“From my first day in office, I made a commitment to serve our people and no matter the hurdles, I will not depart from this commitment,” Adeleke added.
He reassured citizens that his administration remains dedicated to good governance and continued service delivery despite obstacles.
