Former House of Representatives aspirant for Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Afeso Lucky Abubakar, has called on the people of Edo State to remain united and deepen their support for Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, stressing that the state’s sustainable progress and development can only be achieved through collective commitment, unity and unwavering support from all stakeholders.
He made the call in a statement signed and made available to Journalists in Benin.
Hon. Abubakar said, while there may be different political opinions and criticisms, what should matter most is the progress and wellbeing of the people of Edo State.
Abubakar noted that since assuming office, Governor Okpebholo’s administration has taken steps in areas that directly affected ordinary people, particularly in road infrastructure, education, healthcare and the general improvement of public facilities.
The former aspirant for the House of Representatives, particularly highlighted the administration’s ongoing road rehabilitation and construction projects across different parts of the state, noting that good roads are important not only for movement but also for businesses, farmers, workers and communities.
He also commended the Governor’s attention to the education sector, including efforts to improve the learning environment and provide better facilities for students and teachers. He said investing in education is ultimately investing in the future of Edo State.
In the health sector, the APC chieftain also acknowledged the administration’s efforts to improve healthcare facilities and make government health services more accessible to the people.
He said these projects may not solve every problem overnight, but they represent steps in the right direction and should be encouraged where they positively impact the lives of Edo people.
“Government is a continuous process. No administration can fix everything in one day. What we need as Edo people is to identify what is working, encourage it, and constructively point out areas that need improvement,” he said.
He therefore appealed to political leaders, youths, traditional and community leaders, professionals and ordinary citizens to put Edo State first.
He stressed that political differences should not become a reason for Edo people to work against the development of their own communities.
“We may belong to different political parties and have different opinions, but we all have one Edo State. The progress of Edo is our collective responsibility. Let us unite, support good initiatives and continue to hold government accountable in a constructive manner.”
He further called on the people of Edo State to give Governor Monday Okpebholo the needed support and cooperation to effectively implement his administration’s policies and programmes.
At the same time, he urged the government to remain responsive to the yearnings of the people, sustain engagement with citizens and intensify efforts in areas where further interventions are required.
Abubakar concluded with a renewed call for unity among Edo people, stressing that the vision of a stronger, peaceful and prosperous Edo State can only be achieved through collective responsibility, mutual understanding and the active contribution of every citizen and stakeholder.
