A coalition of Muslim leaders under the aegis of the Concerned Muslim Stakeholders and League of Alfas in Osun State has questioned Governor Ademola Adeleke’s claim that his administration has done more for Muslims than previous governments.
The group also declared its support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
Truth Live News gathered that the coalition made its position known during a press conference held in Osogbo on Thursday, August 6, 2026, with the theme, “State of the Nation: A Call to the Conscience of Muslims in Osun State.”
Speaking at the briefing, the group’s President, Sheikh Qozeem AbdulRahaman, said the election presents an opportunity for voters to assess candidates based on governance, fairness and leadership.
He said the coalition disagreed with the Adeleke administration’s assessment of its performance on issues affecting the Muslim community.
According to him, some projects cited by the state government, including the Government House Mosque and the Osun Hajj Camp, do not reflect the level of completion claimed by the administration.
AbdulRahaman urged members of the public to independently verify the status of the projects.
Also speaking, the coalition’s Secretary, Abdulganiy Sahid, said some members of the Muslim community had expressed concerns over their representation in political appointments and leadership positions within the state government.
He described the concerns as views expressed by members of the community and called for equitable representation in public offices.
The coalition, however, stressed that its position was not intended to promote religious division.
According to AbdulRahaman, the group remains committed to peaceful coexistence among adherents of different faiths and advocates equal opportunities for all residents of the state.
Endorsing Oyebamiji, the coalition urged voters to assess the APC candidate based on what it described as his character, competence, experience and leadership qualities rather than religious affiliation.
The group also called on Muslims across Osun State to participate peacefully in the August 15, 2026 governorship election and exercise their democratic rights in accordance with their conscience.
