The much anticipated homecoming rally and celebration of Plateau State governorship hopeful, Simput Eagles Dafup II, has been postponed following security concerns raised by law enforcement agencies.
In a statement issued on Monday and made available to Truth Live News International, the Chief Private Secretary to the governorship hopeful and Founder of the E4P Movement, Datong Testimonies, announced the immediate suspension of the event earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Truth Live News International gathered that prior to the planned rally, Dr. Dafup II and his team had formally notified relevant security agencies of their intention to hold the event. Copies of correspondence sighted by this newspaper showed that letters were duly sent to the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), informing them of the planned gathering and seeking the necessary security support.
According to the statement, organisers had initially complied with an earlier request by the police to move the event until after the APC primary election, a development they said aligned with the plans of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership, many of whom were expected to attend the celebration.

However, the situation took a dramatic turn when, according to the organisers, a communication from the Police Headquarters advised that the rally be cancelled following intelligence reports indicating that criminal elements were allegedly planning to infiltrate the gathering, cause disorder, destroy property and trigger unrest within Jos and its environs.
The organisers alleged that the planned disruption was intended to tarnish the image of the NDC and discredit the growing political movement around Dr. Dafup II ahead of the party’s governorship primary election.
Describing the development as unfortunate and disappointing, the E4P Movement acknowledged the enormous sacrifices, financial commitments and extensive preparations already made by supporters and stakeholders across the state.
Despite the setback, the movement urged its members to remain calm and focused, assuring them that the postponement was purely a precautionary measure aimed at protecting lives and property.

“We remain resolute and undeterred. While this development is painful, our commitment to the vision remains stronger than ever,” the statement noted.
To cushion the disappointment and preserve the momentum generated by the planned rally, organisers disclosed that consultations are ongoing to host an exclusive celebration dinner immediately after Dr. Dafup II secures his return certificate following the forthcoming party primaries. They added that the proposed gathering would be held in close collaboration with security agencies to guarantee maximum safety.
Further details regarding the new programme are expected to be communicated to supporters in the coming days.
Truth Live News International understands that the postponement has generated mixed reactions among supporters, many of whom had already made arrangements to travel from different parts of Plateau State and beyond to participate in what was expected to be one of the largest political gatherings in support of the governorship hopeful.
