The Cross River State Police Command has launched a manhunt to rescue at least 15 passengers kidnapped along the Calabar-Oron waterways.
The image maker of the command, ASP Eitokpah Sunday, said this in Calabar while speaking about the incident.
His words, “With respect to the alleged abduction of 15 passengers aboard a Sea Express boat en route from Calabar to Oron on Friday, the command is working in close synergy with the Akwa Ibom State Police Command and the Nigerian Navy.
“Coordinated search-and-rescue and tactical operations are currently ongoing to ensure the safe recovery of the victims and the swift apprehension of the perpetrators,” ASP Sunday said.
Recall that at least 15 passengers were kidnapped aboard a ferry along the Calabar-Oron waterway last Friday.
The waterway serves as an alternative for people travelling from Cross River to Akwa Ibom State who wish to avoid the stressful journey along the dilapidated Calabar-Itu Road.
