See Names of 15 Senators Who Championed Full E-Transmission of Election Results, Rejected Manual Contingency

This list highlights the 15 Nigerian senators who, during a dramatic division vote in the Senate on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, opposed retaining a manual backup provision in Clause 60(3) of the Electoral Act (Repeal and Re-enactment) Amendment Bill 2026.

They pushed for mandatory, compulsory real-time electronic transmission of polling unit results directly to INEC’s IReV portal without any fallback to manual collation in cases of network failure.

Led by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, these lawmakers argued that the manual contingency could undermine electoral transparency and invite manipulation.

In the end, 55 senators voted to keep the proviso, allowing electronic transmission as the primary method but permitting manual processes where connectivity issues arise, while these 15 stood firmly for unrestricted full e-transmission to strengthen trust in Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 elections.

  1. This means that the members of PDP, ADC, LP and APGA are the true representative of the masses in Nigeria. No single ruling party supported that! May God help Nigeria to succeed.
