Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued six kidnapped victims in a daring operation in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The rescue, which occurred on Thursday, was announced by security analyst Bakatsine in a post shared on X on Saturday.
“On Thursday, troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, rescued six kidnapped victims in Sokoto State after intercepting three terrorists on motorcycles in Sabon Birni LGA. The terrorists, who were transporting the captives from Kure village, abandoned them and fled upon sighting the troops,” the post read.
The rescued victims have been identified as: Usman, 24; Baba Usman, 56; Hassan, 22; Sunusi, 23; Abdullahi Yahaya, 28; and Sule, 15.
Bakatsine praised the troops for their swift response and dedication.
“Kudos to the troops for their courage, professionalism and sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism,” he added.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat banditry and kidnapping in the North-West region, providing relief to affected communities amid persistent security challenges.
