‘Unauthorised Meetings’ Will Get You Sacked, Fubara Warns New Appointees

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has issued a stern warning to political appointees, threatening immediate dismissal for anyone who convenes or participates in unauthorized meetings particularly “nocturnal” ones without his express approval.

The governor delivered the warning on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, and Chief of Staff, Barrister Sunny Ewule, held at the Executive Council Chamber of Government House, Port Harcourt.

Truth Live News learnt that Fubara emphasized that the appointments were made to drive the state’s development agenda, not to serve as platforms for personal ambition, political patronage, or actions that could embarrass the government.

Addressing the new appointees directly, he stressed the need for absolute loyalty and discipline, “If you involve yourself in nocturnal meetings and all those things, I will sack you. I’m very serious.”

He made it clear that peace, progress, and prosperity remain the top priorities of his administration, and any conduct capable of undermining these goals such as secret or unauthorized gatherings would not be tolerated.

Fubara also used the occasion to remind Permanent Secretaries nearing retirement to prepare comprehensive handover notes to ensure seamless transitions in the civil service.

The directive comes amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, where Fubara has faced challenges to his authority since assuming office. Analysts view the warning as an effort to tighten control over his administration and prevent factional activities or external influences from destabilizing his government.

The newly sworn-in SSG and Chief of Staff are expected to play key roles in coordinating government activities and advising the governor on policy and administration.
