On Friday, President Bola Tinubu named Imam Ibrahim Kashim Imam as the Chairman of the governing board for the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). This appointment, along with the selection of Chukwuemeka Agbasi as FERMA’s Managing Director, was conveyed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, through an official statement. Imam Kashim Imam’s appointment is subject to renewal every four years, in accordance with the provisions of Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act of 2007.
Imam Kashim Imam, born on December 27, 1998, is a highly educated individual. He holds a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brighton University and has furthered his academic achievements by obtaining an MSc in Engineering Business Management from the same institution. In 2022, he was also part of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Before his recent appointment, Imam Kashim Imam served as a Special Assistant to Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, which provided him with valuable experience in the field of road infrastructure and maintenance. Notably, he is the son of Mutawalli Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, who presently chairs TETFUND.
This appointment underscores the government’s commitment to embracing capable and highly educated individuals, irrespective of age, gender, or ethnic and religious backgrounds. It’s worth noting that Imam Kashim Imam’s father, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, aged 61, is a prominent Nigerian politician who twice stood as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Governor of Borno State in 2003 and 2007, albeit without success.
He remains a significant figure in Borno’s political landscape, adding further depth to Imam Kashim Imam’s family background and influence in the region.
