Former Minister of Transportation and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, Rotimi Amaechi, has lost his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi, who died at the age of 89.
The Amaechi Media Office announced her passing in a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, 2026, saying she died peacefully.
According to the statement, the late Mrs. Amaechi was a devoted Christian, respected community leader and family matriarch who was widely admired for promoting peace, unity and strong family values.
The statement described her as a woman whose life was marked by kindness, compassion and selfless service, noting that she would be remembered for her warmth and unwavering support for those around her.
The family expressed appreciation for the outpouring of condolences and prayers received following the announcement of her death.
It added that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course and thanked friends, supporters and well-wishers for standing with the family during this period of mourning.
