NIGERIA, AKWA IBOM – The Executive Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Rt. Hon. Simon Dominic Akpan, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to disciplined policing and youth development while hosting ASP Promise Friday Akaka.
Akpan received the officer at his residence on February 23, 2026, describing the visit as a strategic engagement between local government leadership and the Nigeria Police Force.
The chairman congratulated ASP Akaka on graduating from the Nigeria Police Academy, stressing that the achievement elevates Obot Akara’s image within national security institutions.

He described the academy as Nigeria’s highest senior-officer training institution, noting that its rigorous academic and ethical standards shape responsible policing across the federation.
According to a statement released by the Media Unit of the Executive Chairman’s Office, Akpan said the milestone brings honour to Ikot Utu and Obot Akara entirely.
“This achievement reflects discipline, courage and intellectual strength,” Akpan stated, emphasizing that the local government celebrates excellence rooted in integrity and service.
He added that effective local governance depends on collaboration with professional security institutions committed to lawful conduct and constitutional responsibility.
Akpan stressed that ethical policing remains central to community stability, economic growth, and sustained development within Obot Akara Local Government Area.
The chairman described ASP Akaka’s graduation as historically significant, noting that he stands as the first male indigene from Obot Akara to complete the academy.

ASP Promise Friday Akaka graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Intelligence Security Studies from the Nigeria Police Academy.
He currently serves as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and operates as third-in-command of the Motor and Traffic Unit, Ikot Ekpene Division.
Akpan commended the Nigeria Police Force for maintaining rigorous training standards, stating that strong institutions safeguard communities against disorder and misconduct.
