Mr. Ogbeide Ifaluyi Isibor has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consensus candidate for Egor/Ikpoba Okha federal constituency.
The motion for his adoption was moved amid cheering supporters by Mr. Japheth Eboigbe, chairman, PDP, Egor Local Government Area and was seconded by Mr. Alfred Igbinoba, chairman, PDP, Ikpoba Okha Local government area of Edo State .
Addressing party faithful after the primary election, Ogbeide Ifaluyi thanked them for their trust in his candidacy and his commitment to advancing the common good of the constituency.
He said he was not going to be an Abuja representative but one who would be accessible and make laws that would engender development for the country.
“And I want to let you know that you have made the right decision in selecting the people’s candidate to represent your party.
“I will not betray you, I will not let you down, I will speak up for you, I will argue for you, and I will fight for you. I will not be an Abuja representative, I will be one that you see every time, every moment.
“I will go there to represent your interests, not my interests, and I will come here to listen to the people. I’m not saying what I promised to do, I’m saying what I’ve done before, and what I will do again”, Ifaluyi said.
Speaking also, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, Chris Nehikhare, said the party has decided to hand over the umbrella to the youth who would thereafter hand it over to the next generation.
He said the candidacy of Ifaluyi is a square peg in a square hole and that the party has made the right choice.
“What we are having now is a new and reinvigorated PDP, whereby we are passing leadership to the younger generation, whereby they are the ones now in charge of the umbrella.
“Their fingers, their hands are on the umbrella, which is used to protect everybody, both under storm, under sun, under rain.
“We’ve gone through all these climatic conditions in the last three years, and we have still come out strong. And the only instrument that protects you against all this is the umbrella and Ifaluyi Isibor hand is firmly on that umbrella”, Nehikhare said.
For Mr. Osato Ehanire, Chairman, PDP ward 3, he described Ifaluyi Isibor as a very brilliant young man that knows how to carry his people along.
He said he has been in the party for a very long time and that he knows how to give back to the society.
Mr. Ehanire said Mr. Ifaluyi Isibor is a goal-getter and has served in various capacities in the party, pointing out that himself and the party are proud of the candidacy the party has thrown up.
Truth Live News Media reports that Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor is a Nigerian engineer, public servant, and politician, and he served as the Commissioner for Digital Economy in Edo State, Nigeria.
