“Lucky soul”: Nigerian Cleric Hails Iran’s Supreme Leader After Death

A prominent Nigerian Islamic cleric has described Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as “a lucky soul” following reports of his death.

Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, made the remarks in a post shared on his verified Facebook page, reacting to news of the Iranian leader’s killing amid ongoing regional tensions.

In his statement, Gumi said Ayatollah Khamenei died while defending what he described as oppressed people, particularly women and children affected by the conflict in Gaza.

“A lucky soul, he died in jihad against killers of innocent children and women in Gaza and elsewhere,” Gumi wrote.

He added that the late Iranian leader’s death would inspire change within the global Muslim community, known as the ummah, saying Khamenei stood firmly for justice and “did not hide in bunkers”.

Gumi also issued a warning to those he accused of being responsible for the killing, saying time would reveal the consequences of their actions.

Ayatollah Khamenei had led Iran for several decades and was a central figure in shaping the country’s political and religious direction.

Iranian authorities have confirmed the death of the Supreme Leader, as military exchanges in the region continue.
