The Benue State Police Command has arrested a suspected child trafficker, Priscilia Mhiive Terhemen, and rescued 11 children in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area on Sunday, 24th of August, 2025.
Security sources revealed that Terhemen, a resident of Mbachir in Katsina-Ala, allegedly trafficked the children to Benin City, Edo State. “Report received from Katsina-Ala Local Government Area on Sunday indicated that a woman, identified as Priscilia Mhiive Terhemen of Mbachir, Katsina-Ala, had trafficked 11 children to Benin City, Edo State,” sources confirmed. With the assistance of Benue indigenes in Edo, the children were successfully rescued and returned to Katsina-Ala.
The rescued victims, aged between 5 and 20, were identified as Iwuese Terkimbi (5), Sulma Terhemen (7), Sechiur Orsuyi (8), Sunday Mlumum (20), Nguveren Sunday (15), Doose Mwaave (12), Ternenge Wuave (11), Mnena Terhemen (16), Aondonengen Terkimbir (12), Nensha Terhemen (10), and Saakuma Terhemen (13). “The children had been profiled, while the suspect was in custody,” sources noted, adding that the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched a deeper probe into the case.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to pursuing justice, with ongoing investigations aimed at uncovering the full syndicate’s activities.
Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to prevent further incidents of child trafficking in Benue State.
