StarTimes Nigeria Unveils Full World Cup Coverage Plans, Slashes Decoder Prices

Startimes Nigeria has Unveiled her Full world Cup plans and schedules at a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, 2nd of June, 2026.

Although Nigeria will not be among the 48 nations competing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, football fans across the country will still have the opportunity to follow every moment of the tournament.

The pay-TV company announced that it would broadcast all 104 matches of the expanded tournament live on two dedicated sports channels — ST Sports Life (CH253/243) and ST World Football (CH254/245) — from the opening whistle on June 11 through to the final showdown on July 19.

Subscribers will also be able to stream matches on the StarTimes ON app across mobile, tablet, and smart TV devices.

Alongside its broadcast announcement, StarTimes Nigeria unveiled a nationwide rewards campaign dubbed “Watch the World Cup. Win Big,” offering subscribers a chance to win a ₦10 million grand prize to be drawn live on the night of the final, with a total prize pool of ₦50 million including StarTimes solar home systems and television bundles.

Marketing Director Oke Umurhohwo said the campaign reflects the company’s broader mission, describing the World Cup as “more than just football – it is a shared experience that brings people together across homes, viewing centres, and communities.”

StarTimes Nigeria also announced significant decoder price reductions running from May 18 to July 31, 2026, with the Basic Bouquet starting from just ₦4,000, in a move the company said was aimed at making the tournament the most accessible World Cup ever for Nigerian viewers.

The company further announced plans to organise viewing events in selected cities during the knockout rounds, semi-finals, and final to boost fan engagement.

While Nigerians may once again watch the competition from afar following the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify, interest in the tournament is expected to remain high given the country’s enduring passion for football and the presence of several African teams on the global stage.
