Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has appointed a new chairman for the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominated seven commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).
In a statement released on Monday, the presidency announced that Ibrahim Ida, a former senator representing Katsina Central, will serve as the new chairman of the CAC.
Mr Ida has a background in finance and public administration. He previously served as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State and held senior roles in the federal civil service. He also holds degrees in banking, finance, and law.
The president also nominated seven individuals to fill vacant positions at the National Population Commission, subject to confirmation by the National Assembly. The nominees are Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi (Ekiti), Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara), Usman Abubakar Tuggar (Bauchi), Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya (Kwara), Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda (Katsina), Suleiman Umar (Jigawa), and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto).
In a separate development, President Tinubu appointed Dr Yusuf Mohammed as chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.
He also named Bala Mohammed Bello as Special Adviser on Political Economy.
Mr Bello, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has also served as an executive director at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank.
The appointments are part of efforts by the administration to fill key positions in government agencies and strengthen public institutions.
