Ademola Lookman sealed Nigeria’s place in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals with a lone goal against Angola, Truth Live News reports.
The Atalanta winger found the net four minutes before halftime in Abidjan, capitalizing on Moses Simon’s cross. Nigeria now awaits the winner between Cape Verde and South Africa in the semi-final.
Bidding for their first-ever semi-final appearance, Angola started brightly, with Stanley Nwabali denying Mabululu’s close-range volley in the fourth minute. However, Nigeria took the lead in the 41st minute as Simon evaded Kialonda Gaspar’s challenge and set up Lookman for a roof-of-the-net finish.
Angola nearly responded around the hour mark when substitute Zine connected with Show’s through ball, beating Nwabali, only to see his shot rebound off the post.
Despite VAR disallowing Victor Osimhen’s header for offside from Lookman’s free-kick, the Super Eagles held firm, securing their spot in the semi-finals.
