Ali Mohammed Jounwiro, the Chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Kwara State chapter, has disclosed that nine people were killed, 450 cows and N6million were lost during the clash with the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).
Jounwiro made this known while addressing newsmen, urging the state government and other relevant bodies to do everything possible to ensure the culprits are brought to justice.
Recall that no less than four people were killed in the clash between cattle dealers and members of the OPC in Ajase, Irepodun Local Government on Friday.
Some commercial vehicles and passengers plying the area were also caught in the riot that lasted for hours.
However, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq paid a visit to the market and assured the Fulani community that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
In his response to the GAFDAN chairman’s accusation, the Kwara State Coordinator of the OPC, Ganiyu Oladipupo, stated that his party’s members were not involved in the crisis.
He called Jounwiro’s claim that the OPC murdered nine cattle dealers “a blatant lie.”
