Media personality Toke Makinwa has sparked a debate after stating that women can ask men to pay their bills.
According to Makinwa, there is nothing wrong with a woman depending on a man to pay her bills, stating that men who do not want to fulfill this role should leave them for those who do.
Speaking in the latest episode of her Toke Moments podcast, Makinwa said, “You don’t need to lower your standards. There are over a billion people in this world. You can find someone who has what you are looking for. Stop letting society dictate your choices.”
Makinwa continued, “If someone says, ‘This girl is money-hungry, all she wants is a man to pay her bills,’ and you can’t pay her bills, then leave her. There’s another guy who might be looking for that. We make things harder than they need to be by fighting online with our opinions.”
She concluded by advising people not to judge others for their preferences, stating, “If someone isn’t what you’re looking for, don’t try to pinpoint what’s wrong with them. It’s actually a reflection of you, not them.”
