Notorious Militia Leader 'Master' Neutralized by Troops in Plateau State

In a significant blow to criminal activities in Plateau State, troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) successfully neutralized Hamisu Saleh, known as “Master,” a notorious militia leader and kidnapper, during a raid in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The operation, conducted on February 11, 2025, was based on intelligence gathered after Saleh’s initial arrest in December 2024. According to sources speaking to Zagazola Makama, a Northern Nigeria Security Watchdog and Analyst, Truth Live News learnt that Saleh had resumed his criminal activities shortly after his release, resulting in further attacks, killings, and kidnappings in the area.

During interrogations, Saleh confessed to numerous kidnappings and revealed the locations of weapons caches used by his gang. Acting on this intelligence, OPSH troops launched an offensive at around 2047 hours in the Ropp area of Barkin Ladi.

Saleh attempted to deceive the soldiers by providing misleading information about the hideouts and weapon stashes. In an attempt to escape and possibly harm the troops, he tried to seize a soldier’s weapon, leading to his swift neutralization by the security forces.

Despite the operation, no additional weapons or gang members were found during the subsequent search. However, the military has pledged to maintain aggressive operations to dismantle other criminal networks in the region.

The military’s statement emphasized, “Offensive operations will be sustained to track down other criminals,” ensuring continued safety and security in Barkin Ladi and surrounding areas.
