The Edo State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gbenga Agun, has commended the Etsako East Local Government Council chairman, Benedicta Attoh for allocating a piece of land for the building of a permanent structure for the agency.
He described the collaboration between the Chairman and the security outfit as motherly, saying Etsako East has offered a dynamic hospitality to men of the civil defense in areas of accommodation and paying of rent in ensuring a secure environment for her people.
Commandant Agun who was speaking in the office of the Chairman during a familiarization visit also took time to explain various departments of the Civil Defence and their functions.
He said the impact of the activities of the defence is felt more in the State capital where the anti vandalization team and other units are engaged in the protection of oil and gas and farmlands.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Hon. Benedicta Attoh expressed satisfaction with the activities of the agency in the council, saying there is the need for more men to be deployed to other communities across Etsako East where the attention of the agency is needed.
She mentioned areas like the Weppa, Okpekpe and three Ibie clans which she said are without the presence of civil defense officers.
She assured the delegation that traditional rulers in the various communities are willing to collaborate in making security personnel comfortable as they are more approachable members of the community.
