The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has described the founder and Bishop of Voice of Freedom Ministry International, Bishop Dr. Abraham Chigbundu as a man who has used his pulpit as a platform to instil godly virtues among his followers.
He said this while delivering his goodwill message at the 70th birthday celebration of Bishop Abraham Chigbundu held in Benin City.
The governor, who commended the Bishop for pursuing causes that ameliorate the suffering of the people, said his administration will collaborate with him in ensuring such gestures are sustained.
“As you join the league of septuagenarian, I celebrate your impact within the Christian communities and your far reaching philanthropist gestures which has endeared you to many, even in this particular event, we are witnesses to what you are doing with your family foundation.
“Your unwavering dedication to work in the vineyard of the Lord is exemplary and we are very proud of you. Your teachings have guided many to Christ just as you have contributed to fostering peace and harmony in the State through several outreach programmes and initiatives.
“These gestures and your humanity are testament of your profound love for humanity and your commitment to uplifting the needy and down trodden. You remain a beacon of hope to the life of thousands. You have used the pulpits as a platform to instill godly virtue, compassion and empathy amongst your followers and willing brothers society.”
Governor Obaseki said his administration holds the Bishop in highest regard for his collaborative efforts which have been instrumental in improving the welfare and development of the State, adding, “May God grant you many more years in a sound State of body, spirit and soul. Happy 70th birthday celebration.
“As a government we always support our citizens who are collaborating with us to solve the problems in the society. How many citizens can come to the government House or reach the governor when they are hungry or when their children are sick? What do they do? They go to the footsteps of people like Bishop Chigbundu to look for succour, hope and relief. That is why as a government, we have made it a priority to collaborate with men of God and institutions because you are doing part of the work that the government is supposed to do.
“Those who can’t reach the government, reach you and you do for them what the government should have done for them. So whatever we see you pursuing any course that will help ameliorate the suffering of the people, help provide hope, as a government we will collaborate with you to make it easy for you to continue doing God’s work.”
Other guests at the birthday celebration include the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the September 21, 2024 election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his wife; Pastor Charles Osazuwa of Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, among others.
