Honourable Saleh Ahmed Kida, the 2023 deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State, has resigned from the party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“His resignation was contained in a letter dated July 4, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward, Hawul Local Government Area.
“I humbly submit my resignation as a member of the PDP with immediate interest effect.
“I humbly submit my resignation as a member of the PDP with immediate effect,” Kida wrote in a letter dated July 4, 2025.
He thanked the party for the privilege and opportunity granted to him during his time in the PDP.
Although Kida did not State his reasons for leaving, political observers believe the defection is part of a broader opposition realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, aimed at challenging the ruling party’s dominance in Borno and beyond.
