The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gained a significant boost in Urhonigbe as their Ward to Ward Campaign Train for Asue/Ogie arrived in Ward 7 (Urhonigbe North) and Ward 8 (Urhonigbe South). In a notable political shift, over 50 defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) switched their allegiance to the PDP.

Led by prominent APC chieftains Edobor Ernest and Osa Wole, the defectors expressed their commitment to working towards the PDP’s victory in the upcoming election. The decision to join the PDP was driven by their belief in the party’s vision and the leadership qualities of its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

Speaking at the campaign rally held at the Urhonigbe Main Market Square, Edobor Ernest highlighted the reasons behind their defection. He praised the PDP’s efforts to bring development and prosperity to Edo State, particularly under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki. Ernest emphasized that the PDP’s track record of progress and their plans for future growth made them the right choice for Urhonigbe’s residents.

Osa Wole, another key defector, reiterated the sentiment, noting that the APC had failed to meet the expectations of the people. He commended Dr. Asue Ighodalo for his clear and actionable plans to improve security and drive economic development in the state. Wole assured the PDP supporters that they would work tirelessly to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming election.

The defectors, who were warmly received by the PDP, were seen celebrating with party members, dancing to campaign songs.
