The Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum has issued a firm rebuttal to comments made by Segun Sowunmi during a recent appearance on Television Continental, describing his remarks about the Forum Chairman, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, as baseless, reckless and motivated by personal interests.

In a statement sent to Truth Live News International, the Forum expressed displeasure over the “unguarded commentary” directed at the Governor of Bauchi State who also serves as Chairman of the Forum. The statement noted that Sowunmi’s outburst amounted to a desperate attempt to attract attention and curry favour from the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Forum described Sowunmi’s remarks as “the rantings of an unstable character” intent on dragging the reputation of respected party leaders into disrepute. It stated that such behaviour does not enhance relevance within any political system and insisted that Senator Bala Mohammed possesses an impeccable leadership record that cannot be diminished by verbal attacks.

According to the statement, Sowunmi’s political history was cited as evidence of his lack of standing, describing him as “an empty drum, loud but hollow” with no identifiable success in his political career. His failed attempt to join the Ogun State governorship primaries was characterised as “a comedy show” that reflected his lack of electoral value even at the level of ward politics.

The Forum further asserted that Sowunmi’s style of engagement has always been driven by self interest, reducing politics to a pursuit of personal gain rather than meaningful contributions to party cohesion or national progress. It added that his conduct places him far below the calibre of leaders within the Forum, likening him to “a butterfly fluttering aimlessly among eagles.”

The statement advised Sowunmi to “confront his own emptiness” rather than questioning the leadership and capacity of Senator Bala Mohammed whose record of service continues to earn respect within the party and across the country.

The PDP Governors Forum reaffirmed its full confidence in the leadership of its Chairman and dismissed Sowunmi’s remarks as attention seeking and devoid of subPDP Governors Forum Rebukes Segun Sowunmi Over “Baseless Outburst” Against Governor Bala Mohammed
